Body Care: This is how you take care of your body

If you google the term skin care, most of the results will reveal information that is primarily related to the face. However, the skin is the largest human organ and the most important protective mechanism that protects us from external influences. Care should therefore not be limited to the face. Body (skin) care is important, but complex - we'll show you how.


When it comes to skin care, we all seem to focus too much on our face. The rest of the body also deserves attention. However, there is no one-fits-all solution here. The body skin needs an individual care concept that is tailored to the skin type as well as the respective problems and needs. For example, people with dark skin are more likely to struggle with hyperpigmentation or ashy undertones, while lighter skin is more prone to redness and blemishes. What they all have in common, however, is that the skin desires a comprehensive regiment of cleansing and care. 


For most of us, cleaning our face in the morning and in the evening with the right products is part of our routine. But what about the body? Often we do not use cleaning products that are tailored to our skin type and pay much less attention to the ingredients when buying them. However, legs, stomach and co. Also want to be supplied with ingredients during cleaning that are good for us. It is particularly important not to dry out the skin and therefore rely on products that tend to contain fatty alcohols and only small amounts of fragrances. It is best to use soaps and gels that only contain harmless ingredients, as these put the least strain on the body's skin during cleaning and do not impair the natural protective function.

Regular peeling is essential for glowing skin all over the body. This removes dead skin, stimulates blood circulation and makes the skin more even. You should exfoliate about 1-2 times a week. Products with alpha and beta hydroxy acids are best suited for this because they stimulate skin renewal and give you a soft skin surface. You can also make a basic peeling yourself, for example with sugar or coffee grounds. To do this, mix two tablespoons of granulated sugar or coffee grounds with one tablespoon of olive or coconut oil. Mix the ingredients thoroughly and your scrub is done. Please note that mechanical peelings can lead to skin injuries if they are roughly applied. Chemical peels are therefore more recommended.

Shaving, waxing, lasers
If you like it smooth, you can't avoid shaving, waxing or lasers. Skin irritations are not uncommon and affect light and dark skin equally. It is important to do peelings, if necessary, before shaving or waxing, so as not to irritate the skin additionally afterwards. Laser treatments should also be carried out in winter, because they do not get along well with intense sunlight. In addition, not all lasers are created equal, which is why you should find out beforehand whether the respective laser hair removal is really suitable for your dark or light skin type. In principle, there is nothing wrong with the most common forms of hair removal, as long as you don't forget about adequate care.

Basically, the care substances that are good for your face are also suitable for your body skin, such as antioxidants or vitamins.
